Profile Details:

University: Fordham University
Course: MS in Business Analysis

First Attempt
Mumbai Consulate
Date:
July 2017
Status: Approved

Visa interview Experience:

VO: Good morning
Me:
Good morning officer.

VO: Pass me your documents.
I passed my i20, passport and sevis receipt.
After typing a while,

VO: Why this University?
Me:
After receiving two admits from Fordham University and University of Rochester, the curriculum of both universities was pretty much the same, but the electives offered by Fordham covered major bases of Analysis and were appealing to my interests. And apart from good curriculum, the lesser tuition fees was also a major factor in choosing Fordham over Rochester.
(Avoided curriculum, rankings and research answer, as VO interrupted the guy before me for answering like that)

VO: Are you working now?
ME:
No, I am not working. I left the job in May to work on the prerequisites of my program.

VO: Who's sponsoring your education?
ME:
My father would be sponsoring my education.

VO: How's he going to fund your education?
ME:
We have savings worth 16L. Liquid assets worth 17L in the form of Gold and Fixed Deposits.

VO: Have you taken loan?
ME:
Yes, I have a sanctioned loan of 40L.
(Forgot to tell about loan earlier.. in the funding question)
I sneezed after the answer.

VO: Its going to be very cold in NYC. You better take care.
ME:
I wish the same. Hope to get Beyond the wall feeling there.
VO smiled..(I guess she got the Got reference).
After typing for a while.

VO: Your Visa has been approved.. and something something
Just went into my own zone after hearing those words.

Keep it simple. Don't try to complicate it by giving answers which will raise more questions. Don't worry about the rejects going around in the consulate, you keep hearing others interviews, so just be into your own zone.
