The Santa Clara University was established in the year 1851 and has a highly illustrious history of education and social service. The motto of this Jesuit University reads ‘For the greater glory of God’ (translated from English) and true to this inspiring line, this University in California has always strived towards brightening the lives of the many generations that have passed out over the last 164 years of its glorious existence.
STEM Course The MS in Computer Science at Santa Clara is a government-designated STEM degree and so international students may be eligible for the 24-month F1 OPT (optional practical training) extension.
All students admitted to the MSCSE program are expected to already have competence in the
fundamental subjects listed below, as required within an accredited program for a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering or Computer Science. An applicant without such background may still be admitted, provided the deficiencies are corrected by coursework that is in addition to the normal degree requirements and that is completed within the first year of graduate studies. Alternatively, a student may take a similar course at another approved accredited institution.
The subjects and corresponding SCU courses that may be used to correct the deficiencies include:
Course Requirement: English Proficiency
TOEFL or IELTS scores are required of all applicants whose first language is not English (even if the applicant is a U.S. citizen) or if you do not have a degree awarded by a U.S. university/college.
International Degrees : All applicants who hold a degree from outside of the United States are required to have their official transcripts evaluated by the ECE (Educational Credential Evaluators) or WES (World Education Services). We require ICAP version
course-by-course, cumulative GPA, and U.S. degree equivalency evaluation. There is no exception to this requirement.
Eligibility: Applicants must have a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college in the United States or an approved institution of higher learning abroad in order to be eligible to apply. Applicants with a bachelor degree in math or physics may apply.
