The Master of Engineering in Cybersecurity is offered by the Office of Advanced Engineering Education in collaboration with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the Department of Computer Science, and the Maryland Cybersecurity Center.

The Professional Master of Engineering program is a practice-oriented both online and part-time graduate program designed to assist engineers and technical professionals in the development of their careers and to provide the expertise needed in the rapidly changing business, government, and industrial environments.
On Campus Program
Offered in collaboration with Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Department of Computer Science, and the Maryland Cybersecurity Center, our cybersecurity engineering degree programs merge engineering applications with computer science principles. Our cybersecurity Master of Engineering and Graduate Certificate in Engineering degrees prepare engineers the skills and knowledge that they can apply to their jobs in industry and government.
Participants will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of cybersecurity and gain practical skills through instruction by an experienced security professional. Students learn about career options in the field, take at least one field trip and hear from a variety of speakers to learn more about how to prepare to enter this exciting profession. Additionally, students will be introduced to the Advanced Cybersecurity Experience for Students (ACES) honors program offered at the University of Maryland.
Technical experience is recommended, including networking, Cisco Academy, and/or Java programming. The goal is to prepare the next generation of cybersecurity professionals through interactive learning, skill building, and utilization of available resources. Participants will be introduced to the cybersecurity programs available at the University of Maryland and they will be exposed to various careers in the field of cybersecurity.
Eligibility and Application Requirements
Application Fee: A $75 fee is required to complete an application. Three Letters of Recommendation: Master of Engineering (M.Eng) applicants must identify three individuals to provide recommendations. Graduate Certificate in Engineering (GCEN) applicants are required to identify two references if they have a GPA below 3.0. English proficiency scores: International applicants only.
