University of North Carolina at Charlotte, usually referred as UNCC or simply Charlotte, is a public research university founded in 1871. The university is pretty famous for its Electrical Engineering and Computer Science programs and is always on the application list of an average profile. UNC of Charlotte is a hot favourite university for international students due to its strategic location and affordable fees. Note: UNCC is not to be confused with University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and the latter is any day a notch above the former. It ranks #764 according to U.S. News' 'Best Global Universities Ranking' list.

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) provides opportunities for discipline-specific and multidisciplinary graduate-level education in Civil and Environmental Engineering and closely related areas. Advanced coursework and research are used to enhance professional development, improve technical competency, and initiate a life-long learning experience. The Department has ongoing collaborative research and student exchange programs with several international institutions.
Online Delivery Program (Distance Learning with EDGE):
UNC Charlotte students who enroll in a course through UNC Online are billed by UNC Charlotte. However, courses taken through UNC Online are not considered residence credit. In order to receive credit at UNC Charlotte for coursework taken through UNC Online, students must request to transfer the credit back to UNC Charlotte upon completion of the course. Such requests are subject to the Transfer Credit policies outlined herein. Students are advised to consult with their program before registering for a course through UNC Online.
On Campus Program (Traditional Learning):
The on campus program offers a rich array of dual degree opportunities that build synergistic skill sets that prepare students for more advanced career opportunities. While most dual degree programs include two graduate business degrees, the Civil Engineering program allows professionals with undergraduate degrees in engineering, architecture, education, and urban affairs to complete a master’s degree in that field along with the MBA. Dual degree programs allow students to earn two degrees with a substantial reduction in course requirements.
A minimum of 30 approved graduate credit hours is required for graduation. At least half of the approved graduate credit hours must be in courses numbered 6000 or above. A student may fulfill the 30-hour requirement by pursuing one of the three study options: (a) 24 hours of coursework plus 6 hours of thesis, (b) 27 hours of coursework plus 3 hours of a directed project, or (c) 30 hours of coursework and a comprehensive examination. Each student is limited to one individual study class within the 30 credit hour requirement
