Man I got a gpa of 7.0 so how do I compensate it I have like 6 months left to apply to colleges my GRE is 325 and IELTS is 8.0 and got a 6 month internship experience so, any ideas on how to compensate for gpa other than publishing research papers coz I only got 6 months and it's kinda not possible for me to do that right now

7 is a decent gpa, I have seen ppl getting into very good colleges with less than 7 gpa and similar gre score. I'm sure with 325 gre u can target some good unis. The    catch here is to apply as early as possible , it always gives u an edge over late applicants.

according to what I have seen so far USC and NEU are gpa centric, there could be few more

Let me be honest with you. I'm on the same boat as you are, just that I graduated last year. From what I've learned you can't possibly compensate your low CGPA with GRE (that's what I thought so just putting it out there). Apply to Universities which aren't CGPA Centric. Since you have 6 months, work on a project which catches the University admission committee when you mentioned it in your sop. Sure you might not be able to publish the paper but you sure can finish the project. Lors do help a bit so try and strengthen it up

It's quite difficult to score under Osmania university as well but as far as the universities are concerned they're still tier 3 Universities. They wouldn't know. And make sure to mention that reason in your sop. But trust me when I say this your CGPA is low even by JNTU standards. There are people from JNTU with 8.2cgpa I've across lots of them. It's not a valid excuse really. Sorry I might've come off as rude but here's my suggestion. Publish a paper even in a local conference. Try when you still have the chance. And remember CGPA isn't the sole factor they look at. Try and shape your profile well in other regards. Community service, entrepreneurship, research experience, internships etc really boost your profile

@Tetrax and another thing that's been bugging me is will the University's admission committee see the gpa of students from all the undergrad colleges equally? Like in my uni (JNTUH) its tough to score will they consider anything like that while evaluating us based on gpa and another thing is I got a solid reason for less gpa in my 2nd year of undergrad will it boost my chances even a bit?
