About Kansas State University

Established as a public institution in 1863 during the Civil War, Kansas State University (K-State) was one of the country’s first land-grant universities. The 668-acre main campus is located in the charming town of Manhattan, Kansas, which is locally referred to as “The Little Apple.” K-State’s ranking in the 2016 edition of Best Colleges is National Universities stands at 146.     Location at Kansas State University

    The campus is centrally located in the classic college town of Manhattan that has around 52,000 residents. The setting of the little Midwest town is calm and very conducive to a learning environment. There are many recreational facilities from parks and pools to tennis and basketball courts in Manhattan. The town also has a strip mall with plenty of shops, restaurants, a small park, movie theaters and few bars located near campus where students can spend time enjoying the Manhattan culture. Youngsters wanting to dabble in outdoor activities can hike to Flint Hills or loiter in the Konza Prairie.


    Infrastructure at Kansas State University

    K-State academic session is semester based. The university has 65 scholastic departments in nine colleges. Students can opt for more than 250 undergraduate majors, 65 master's degree programs, and nearly 50 doctoral programs. The University has a library, numerous research centers including the Biosecurity Research Institute and the Landon Lecture Series as well. The sports teams, known as the Wildcats, partake in the NCAA Division I and flaunt Royal Purple. An interesting tradition of Kansas State University is the annual Purple Power Play in the Park.
    In a bid to become one of the top 50 public research universities by 2025, K-State is currently in the process of constructing eco-friendly buildings and renovating the existing academic infrastructure, sports facilities and on-campus housing. The initiative will enhance research capabilities and improve the learning environments for the students and faculty. Some of the projects include overhauling of the historic stadium and Seaton Complex, expansion of engineering complex, new site for College of Business Administration and more.


    Residing Options at Kansas State University

    When it comes to housing, a majority of freshmen live in campus. The University boasts of eleven residence halls, a large apartment community, a leadership/scholarship house for women along with dwelling arrangements for honour students. The on-campus students also have easy access to a dining service, tutoring programs, on-site laundry facilities etc. Apartments, rental units, and other housing options are also available around Manhattan for students who prefer living off-campus.


    Weather at Kansas State University

    Manhattan, where K-State is situated has a humid subtropical zone hence the region experiences extreme of temperature. In other words, Manhattan enjoys hot, humid summers while the winters are cold and dry. January is the coldest month and July is the hottest. The area gets an average amount of rain, with heaviest downpour from May to August. Mild snowfall occurs from October through April. The state of Kansas is prone to tornados, with the most recent occurring in 2008 which caused a lot of devastation.

    The professors are knowledgeable and quite a few are acknowledged locally and overseas for their outstanding role to research in diverse fields. The staff reportedly has a passionate commitment towards teaching. They are warm, approachable and extremely helpful towards their students.


    Financial aid at Kansas State University

    The tuition fee is a trifle steep for out of state students, but K-State offers various types of loans, financial assistance along with opportunities to work on the campus. The University allocates over $200 million annually for work study, scholarships, student loans and grants.


    Jobs and placements at Kansas State University

    The job placement is fairly good with most students landing jobs after graduating. The Career and Employment Services in the Institute assist scholars in honing up their interviewing and resume-writing skills. Additionally, the campus organizes career fairs to help students find lucrative employment. Many university graduates are working in Texas and California with some have also gained employment abroad.

    Location at Kansas State University

    The campus is centrally located in the classic college town of Manhattan that has around 52,000 residents. The setting of the little Midwest town is calm and very conducive to a learning environment. There are many recreational facilities from parks and pools to tennis and basketball courts in Manhattan. The town also has a strip mall with plenty of shops, restaurants, a small park, movie theaters and few bars located near campus where students can spend time enjoying the Manhattan culture. Youngsters wanting to dabble in outdoor activities can hike to Flint Hills or loiter in the Konza Prairie.


    Infrastructure at Kansas State University

    K-State academic session is semester based. The university has 65 scholastic departments in nine colleges. Students can opt for more than 250 undergraduate majors, 65 master's degree programs, and nearly 50 doctoral programs. The University has a library, numerous research centers including the Biosecurity Research Institute and the Landon Lecture Series as well. The sports teams, known as the Wildcats, partake in the NCAA Division I and flaunt Royal Purple. An interesting tradition of Kansas State University is the annual Purple Power Play in the Park.
    In a bid to become one of the top 50 public research universities by 2025, K-State is currently in the process of constructing eco-friendly buildings and renovating the existing academic infrastructure, sports facilities and on-campus housing. The initiative will enhance research capabilities and improve the learning environments for the students and faculty. Some of the projects include overhauling of the historic stadium and Seaton Complex, expansion of engineering complex, new site for College of Business Administration and more.

    When it comes to housing, a majority of freshmen live in campus. The University boasts of eleven residence halls, a large apartment community, a leadership/scholarship house for women along with dwelling arrangements for honour students.
