The Northwest Missouri State University, commonly known as Northwest, is a state university located in Maryville, Missouri that was founded in 1905. The school is governed by a state-appointed Board of Regents and headed by President Dr. John Jasinski. It utilizes a trimester-based academic calendar and it offers more than 120 undergraduate majors, 73 minors, 18 pre-professional programs, 40 graduate programs, five graduate certificate programs, three certificate programs, three specialist programs. The Northwest Missouri State University is located at 800 University Drive in Maryville, Missouri, surrounded the N Country Club Rd and the W 16th Street. Its setting is rural, therefore, it is surrounded by a lot of green areas and there are no many stores nearby, however, there is a Hy-Vee and a Walmart just five minutes away, and restaurants like Applebee’s, Pizza Hut, Burger King, Subway and Domino’s Pizza are within walking distance.
The Norwest campus size is 370 acres; the campus has over 60 buildings and the campus, based on the design for Forest Park at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair, is the official Missouri State Arboretum. The campus includes food services like Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, Zen Japanese Food Fast and others, along with many other student organizations buildings and clubs. The University Administration building is one of the oldest buildings on campus and a group of architects worked with campus leaders to restore the historic building and keep its essence. The Architects also worked on the 110,000-square-foot B.D. Owens Library, which was designed to house traditional library functions as well as the campus computer center and audiovisual instruction; this library was on the publication cover of CHOICE as a reminder of the library’s enduring appeal. Another great building could be the Mary Linn Performing Arts Center, which seats 1,150 for a variety of performing arts events. The center's support facilities include a stage lift, ticket office, faculty offices, dressing rooms, costume production and a scene shop. The Northwest campus has a famous structure known as the Memorial Bell Tower built in 1970 that functions as a memorial to the men and women who had served in World War II.
The on-campus housing options at Northwest are arranged by the year the student is coursing and there are also housing options arranged by the Academic Learning Communities. The freshman will be assigned to the Hudson-Perri, the Dieterich Hall and the Millikan Hall which is also one of the oldest buildings on campus but is still in shape. For Upperclass students there are the Forest Village Apartments, which is the favorite housing option for many students since is it the lowest-cost option because there is no required meal plan and it also allows pets; the Roberta Hall, which is home to Northwest sororities and the last option is Tower Suites East, the rooms have bathrooms located in-suite and have laundry and kitchen facilities on each floor. There are also three mixed freshman and upperclass housing including the Tower Suites West that was designated for several of Northwest's Academic Learning Communities; the South Complex where two floors are reserved for upperclassmen, while the third floor is home to some of Northwest's Academic Learning Communities and the Freshman Honor's floor. The third floor is a home to freshmen and upperclassmen and the last Hall is the Franken Hall which tends to be home to many international students.

International students can finance their education through the Northwest International Achievement Scholarship, This award will represent the value of the difference in price between in-state and out-of-state tuition; the Northwest Academic Merit Scholarships for freshman international students and transfer students; the International Graduate Achievement Scholarship where to be eligible student must have a high level of achievement in their academic background and finally the last scholarship is the Graduate Non-Resident Waiver where any full-time (9 hrs), degree seeking non-resident or international graduate-level student is eligible.

Other types of positions available are Library Assistants, Carpenters, Farm Assistants, Tutors, Piano Accompanists, Lab Assistants, Research Assistants, Grounds Assistants, Custodians and Computer Lab Consultants, among many others.
