Osaka University was founded in the year 1724, before it was later re-established on May 1st, 1931 as Osaka Imperial University. Osaka University is located in Osaka, Japan, and the university has three campuses, one at Suita, another at Toyonaka, and then one at Minoh. The university’s address is no 1-1 Yamadaoka, Osaka Prefecture 565-0871, Japan.
Suita campus is the university's headquarter and it extends across Suita city and Ibaraki city in Osaka prefecture. The Suita campus houses some faculties like the faculty of Human Sciences, Medicine, Dentistry, etc and it also contains the Graduate School Frontier Biosciences and part of the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology. The campus also accommodates the Osaka University Hospital and the Nationwide Joint Institute of Cybermedia centre plus the Research Centre for Nuclear Physics. The Toyonaka campus is a home to faculties like Law, Engineering, Economics etc and it also serves as an academic base for Graduate School of International Public Policy, Language and Culture, Information Science etc. The Minoh campus houses the School of Foreign Studies, Research Institute for World Languages, and Centre for Japanese Language and Culture.
The University provides accommodation for international students on both a short and long-term basis. These residential options include a private house or public housing facilities. The private houses are a bit expensive but the public housing facilities are not, however, the maximum duration of residence and the number of rooms at these publicly owned facilities are limited. These residential options include a multipurpose room, Japanese-style rooms, guest houses and so forth. The university also provides well-equipped student dormitories with other added services.
The weather in Osaka is temperate, it is usually hot and humid in the months of June, July, August and it is mostly cold in December, January, and February. The rainy season usually goes from mid-June to late July, but it does not rain daily.
