Founded in the year 1946, the Portland State University in the United States was formed mainly as an educational institution for war veterans of the World War 2. However, over the years that followed the initial foundation of this post-war university, it was turned into a four-year college with a ‘University’ status being granted to it in 1969. The Portland University has been ranked amongst the top 15 percentile universities of United States by the Princeton Review in the year 2012.

The Portland State University is located in downtown Portland, Oregon, United States. The campus is housed in the southwest University District of Portland which is the largest city in the U.S. state of Oregon and the seat of Multnomah County. It is a major port in the Willamette Valley region of the Pacific Northwest, at the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia rivers.
The campus of PSU is located across a 50-acre section of southwest downtown of Portland with SW Broadway running through the center of the campus where the university's central buildings are located such as Lincoln Hall, Cramer Hall, Smith Memorial Student Union, Neuberger Hall, and Shattuck Hall; Cramer Hall, Smith Memorial, and Neuberger. These are connected by underground tunnels on the basement levels and by skybridges on the upper levels, which allow students access between buildings without having to use street sidewalks.

Most students who live on campus live with another PSU student (Roommate). Single Units (without a roommate) are very limited.
In Portland, the summers are short, warm, dry, and mostly clear and the winters are very cold, wet, and overcast. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 36°F to 84°F and is rarely below 26°F or above 95°F. The weather is mostly pleasant during summers and can get quite cold during winters.
