It is a multiple-campus university comprising 3 main sites in and around Saarbrucken: Campus Alt-Saarbrucken, Campus Rotenbuhl, and Campus Gottelborn. Campus Alt-Saarbrucken houses the School of Engineering, the School of Social Sciences, the Department of Civil Engineering as well as the Franco-German Institute for Technology and Business (ISFATES-DFHI). Over the course of the year, the temperature usually varies from 31°F to 76°F and is rarely above 86°F or below 19°F. The warm season extends from June 5 to September 9, with an average daily rise in temperature above 68°F. The cold season extends from November 17 to March 4, with an average daily drop in temperature below 46°F.
The Saarland University has a faculty to staff ratio of about 1:11. The University has total faculty staff of 1,275 from which 285 are International staff and rest 990 are domestic. The total number of students in University are 13,636 from which 2,896 are International students.
The University provides a variety of scholarships, both full and partial, for stays abroad: scholarships for undergraduate and graduate studies, language courses, internships, and short research visits. The DAAD awards scholarships are available for study stays, language courses, internships, research visits, etc. On the website of DAAD scholarships, there is a scholarship database (daad), that helps everyone (undergraduate and graduate students) to find the right scholarship. Here students will also find a wealth of information about studying and internships abroad. The DAAD provides a number of scholarship guides and brochures to the interesting students, for example on language courses.

The University also runs some mandatory periods of practical training and supervised work placements. Campus life at the University is interesting. The environment of University is quite good and it helps the students to make more attentive towards their studies. The terrain of the campus is attractive. In addition to providing students a high-quality education, Saarland University offers a wide range of leisure and recreational activities both on and off campus which includes an extensive sports programs and a multitude of cultural activities such as student drama groups, musical ensembles, and choirs. The beautiful place named 'Mensa' - the student refectory - is not only a popular place to eat but also to meet other students. And Saarbrucken also boasts a great range of cafes, bars, and parks, where students can hang out and relax.
The University provides all possible needs to their students so that they gain knowledge without any strain. The best thing about the University is that with the aim of incorporating University characteristics and approaches in their mission of providing education, research, and contributions to society, they will continue to enhance their educational programs, carry out research that is both original and advanced, and strengthen cooperative efforts together with local industries and society as well as universities.
