Well as the name suggests it is in Stockholm Sweden.

Now what does the city of Stockholm offer you. Well you are surrounded by beautiful archipelago islands, huge parks and natural reserves. This is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe for a reason. Moreover there is a broad ethnic spectrum of fashion trends, art, cuisine, music and culture. The food is delectable and comes from every corner of the world. There are plenty of café’s, night clubs, pubs, galleries and museums as well as huge shopping centres.

Please note that if you want to go for a night out, or are a party animal, most of the clubs close by 3 am although there are a handful of clubs that are open till 5 am.

The infrastructure is good. However, the university is famous for its library. The library has 20,000 + ebooks. Also, if the students have a disability they can get audio books or braille. Moreover the librarians will aid you in researching and developing your thesis when you do your own research. It also has a huge database that is very simply designed for ease of access.

You can presume that they may have necessities such as disability centres, health centres, counselling centres or parking. If you do choose this institute please make sure to inquire directly from the student centre about your personal needs and then decide how suitable it is for you.

Residing Options

SSE has a small housing office that offers rooms and apartments to international students and exchange students. These houses are fully furnished and you cannot bring your own furniture. Please note that it is difficult to find housing in Stocholm and it is not possible to provide housing for all applicants. So please do your own searching and contact real estate agents.

They also post various rooms and flats that are available for rent on the SSE website.

There is a hostel available for international students called HUVUDSTA.

Stockholm is heavily influenced by the ocean and has a maritime humid continental climate. It has warm summers and cold winters, but there are mild. In recent years climate change has made Stockholm move closer to an oceanic climate. The highest average high temperature is in July at 23 Celsius. The lowest average low temperature is -3.9 Celsius in February. You will definitely need to pack for this weather if you are not used to these temperatures.

Faculty and pedagogy

The university professors has always provided highest quality of education to its students. Most of the students have always praised their faculty and pedagogy stating that they are always very supportive and respond to student queries promptly. Most students were very happy with hands on business training they received from the MBA course. And many business owners found the course very useful to fix their own businesses.

The Bachelor costs 11,036 dollars a year. Their MSc costs 16,554 dollars every year. There PHd is free of charge but their MBA is a whopping 51,319 dollars

SSE offers a few scholarships to international students from outside the EU. Most chances are that you will be automatically considered for a scholarship if you apply. There are 2 scholarships available for applicants from eastern Europe and 1 scholarship available for North American students irrespective of the course. However, there are 2 other scholarships specifically available for the MSc program.

Jobs and placements

SSE has over 110 corporate partners and offers students opportunities to network with companies and international leaders of business and government. Unfortunately the university has not provided any more information about the placement program aside from the fact they will help you prepare you information during job hunting.

Crowd and campus life

The SSE has many student clubs that offer a variety of experiences. From photography to gender equality you can find a club that will suit your interests and let you meet like minded people. These student clubs often organize special events, which are available to non members. For example you can enjoy exotic tea blends during Tea Guru event, or go for a trip to the Christmas markets with your classmates, or enjoy a night of laughter during their stand up comedy events.

The university also has 17 weekly activities, so there is no excuse for you to have a boring day. These activities include exciting trips, or even international tournaments! Their American football team has come 1st and 2nd in the national championships. Their SSE cheer squad also is a thing and so ladies if you want to swing around and support your team you can absolutely do that. Whoa that is very cool. The sports club called HAIK allows you access to may sports activities, from tennis courses to soccer fields, and if you want special coaching that is a available too.

Aside from this there are numerous trips such as ski week in the Alps or a surf week in Morocco or a boot camp in Morocco.

This University is a mixed bag, its lack of financial aid and the lack of placements is a big negative point for me. Moreover, the lack of information on their infrastructure, makes we wonder whether they can fulfill the needs of many students? It has a good score for its faculty and many distinguished alumni. So I am really of two minds on whether to recommend this university. You will have to make this decision on your own because for me the pros and cons balance each other out and that is not enough to make a recommendation.
