- The Thousand Islands Biological Station is located on the St.Lawrence River near Clayton over Governor's island. The research program here mainly focuses on the aquatic ecology of the river.
- The University has a variety of clubs, around 35 clubs in which students can be a part of.
- There is a Botany Club whose mission is to help the ESF Community connect with plants. The Bob Marshall Club of the University is the outing club for SUNY ESF. The club takes students on hiking, backpacking trips, and snowshoeing.

The UG students at SUNY ESF must live on campus at Centennial Hall. The Centennial Hall is located on the western edge of the ESF campus, and it houses around 549 students. The hall is an environmentally friendly "green" building designed as a combination of residence hall-style rooms and apartments for the students.
