Transportation in the city

In Hong Kong, the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) is the most widely utilized and favored form of public transportation. Over ten lines, it links 80 stations in Kowloon, Lantau Island, Hong Kong Island, and the New Territories. From 6 AM until 1 AM, they run often, every 2-4 minutes. They are made up of overhead, subsurface, and light railways. On Hong Kong Island, the tramline only runs in the north. There are six routes with 120 tram cars that run every 2-4 minutes between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan from 6 AM to 12 AM.

In Hong Kong, public transit is safe, efficient, and well-connected. All students are allowed to drive on campus, which is also served by public transportation (parking permits are required for most on-campus parking).

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University's Library supports the development of undergraduate students into prospective researchers and houses the essential academic resources for graduate students and teachers.

  • A three-story library with an area of 2,180 square meters, while The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Hung Hom Bay Campus branch is a two-story library with an area of 1,200 square meters. The two libraries' layout, amenities, and location offer a setting that accommodates various study and learning styles. Both libraries offer seating for close to 1,400 people in a variety of user areas that cater to users' needs for self-study, group study and discussion, self-learning, collaborative learning, and leisure reading. They are fully covered by wireless LANs and have close to 300 Internet-connected computers.

The campus has more than 20 red-brick buildings, several of which are connected and elevated one story above the podium, offering covered outdoor areas for various uses, including parking and logistics. The eighth stage of the campus extension project is known as Block Z. It is located across Chatham Road from the main campus's northwest side. It can be reached through an 80-meter footbridge or a pedestrian tunnel.
