The University of Nebraska, Omaha is located on the Dodge Street in Omaha, Nebraska, between the 72th Street and the N 52nd Street. Its setting is urban, therefore, it is surrounded by a lot of great stores and restaurants like Walmart, Trader Joes, Whole Foods Market, Wendy’s, Red Lobster, Best Buy and a mall few blocks away called the Tower Plaza. The University’s location is really good since students have everything they need just in a walking distance from campus.
The UNO campus size is 683 acres; the campus has over 30 buildings. The university’s campus is separated into two sections by the Elmwood Park. The campus to the north of Elmwood Park is known as the North Campus and the campus south of Elmwood is known as the South Campus. The North Campus houses four colleges including College of Arts and Sciences, College of Communication, Fine Arts, and Media, College of Education and the College of Public Affairs and Community Service. The North Campus is also home to the Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Library; this library is the primary source of academic research information for the ONU community, its structure is very modern with high windows that surround the entire library. The Strauss Performing Arts Center is also located on the north campus and is home to the School music; the structure was built in 1973 and it houses an auditorium that seats 460 people, along with large rehearsing rooms, ample practice rooms and a listening Library. The south campus houses the College of Business Administration and the College of Information Science and Technology and is home to the Peter Kiewit Institute. The Peter Kiewit Institute is a facility that houses academic programs of Engineering, Science and Technology degrees; inside the Institute is the Holland Computing Center where the Firefly Computer is located. The Firefly Computer is a high-performance system that runs on 1,151 compute nodes and is used by scientists and engineers to study topics such as nanoscale chemistry, subatomic physics, meteorology, and artificial intelligence.
The University of Nebraska- Omaha offers five options for on-campus housing and they all offer four bedrooms apartment but they differ in some amenities and space. Two of the Residence Halls are located on the Dodge Campus including Maverick Village and University Village. The Maverick Village offers 4 private bedrooms with 2 full bathrooms, furnished living room, study lounge and TV room but its annual lease only. In comparison to the Maverick Village, the University Village offers the same amenities but they are smaller and the lease could be academic or annual. The other three Residence Halls available are located in the Scott Campus including Scott Court, Scott Hall, Scott Village. The Scott Court offers 4 bedrooms, two bathrooms, full kitchen and living room but does not offer TV room, study lounge or Clubhouse. The Scott Hall offers the same bedrooms and bathrooms than the Scott Court but the residence has an unlimited meal plan, fitness room, game room and movie theater. The last option would be the Scott village which is the biggest of all and includes a patio o balcony along with volleyball and basketball court.
Omaha, Nebraska has an average temperature of 51°F. The warm season is long, warm and humid, from May to September and the temperature rises over 68°F - 87°F. The summer’s hottest month is July but the temperature is rarely above 93°F. The cold season is usually freezing and dry and the annual low temperature is 40°F. Winter lasts from November to February and the temperature rarely goes below -2°F. You don’t need to worry about the summer days; in fact, you should enjoy them because winter’s temperatures are very low.

The university offers tons of opportunities and counts with experienced, caring professors and since classes are small its easy to have personal relationships with your professors and get to know them better. Whether you're an undergraduate or graduate student, the University of Nebraska- Omaha knows cost is an important factor in your education decision. UNO offers about eight grants that could be federal, state or institutional assistance, Work Aid, Federal Loans and Alternative Loans, Graduate assistantships for students with high academic performance and they should work 20 hours a week. The Scholarships are arranged by year. The first year students are eligible for Regent's Scholarship, Chancellor's Scholarship, Deans Scholarship, UNO Advantage Scholarship Program, Maverick Advantage Scholarship and various general scholarships awarded by the Office of Financial Support and Scholarships. Current and Transfer Students are eligible from each degree department. When it comes to new international students there are two available scholarships including the UNO Advantage Scholarships that covers 65% of tuition and the New International Student Scholarships that offers scholarships up to $6,000. International students are also eligible for Graduate Assistantships.
The University of Nebraska- Omaha offers Federal Work Study and student employment on campus. Work study is offered as part of a student's total financial aid package to assist the student in financing their education. Students can apply for jobs on campus to work up to 20 hours a week and need to have a specific credit hour enrolled to apply. Life after graduation for UNO alumni depends on the degree obtained, a student graduated from the Science and Technology College, with two years of experience can earn up to $80.000, from other degrees it can be $40.000 a year.
