If you are talking about Albuquerque then the only thing that comes to mind is a huge resort that includes a water park and joy rides and of course great fun. Albuquerque is a kindergarten of adults. The place has nothing but tourist spots and fancy structures. It is the 32nd most populated city in the US and has a grand population of 1,163,964 as of 2013. So feeling lonely here is a question that never should come to your mind.
Founded in 1889, the University has a great historical look in its heritage structures. Its Albuquerque campus currently encompasses over 600 acres (2.4 km²), which is pretty huge as per a University in such a populous area and there are branch campuses in Gallup, Los Alamos, Rio Rancho, Taos, and Los Lunas.
The on-campus housing cost for a typical student was $4,890 in 2014 - 2015 and the cost for a typical meal plan was $4,450. So the total expenditure would be around 10,000 US$ for a year including everything which is a bit expensive but if you consider the location and amenities then it’s worth it.
Albuquerque's climate is usually sunny and dry, with an average of 3,415 sunshine hours per year. Brilliant sunshine defines the region, averaging 278 days a year. Extended cloudiness is rare. The city has four distinct seasons, but the heat and cold are mild compared to the extremes that occur more commonly in other parts of the country which makes it easier for a foreigner to settle in the surroundings.
The faculty at UNM is rated as average, but good enough to complete the syllabus and conduct revisions on time. There are reports of students complaining about the exam question papers having questions out of syllabus but that doesn’t concern professors as the papers are set by the university. Else the professors are supportive and would help sort your doubts in every possible way. Students seem happy with the faculty but the problem is with the administration. The admission process might take time as the administration is not in order and those who work tend to be rude, else you wouldn’t face any other problems once the admissions are done.
The university provides few scholarships for those who cannot afford the fees at UNM. The scholarship can be availed only on fees not on housing or meal. Scholarships are conducted immediately after the admissions are done and you need to provide legitimate documents to mark a seat in such exams. So if you wish to attend a scholarship exam you must have all your bank documents and certificates ready before the procedure begins.
University has an in-campus placement program which is held every year after final semester. The program allows only those who have achieved something in academics and as well as extra-curricular activities. So to get a job you must have a good university reputation. The higher the sound of clapping when you get on stage then higher are the chances of you getting placed in a good firm.
University of New Mexico is a great university and is considered as a ‘looking up to for admissions’ kind of university. The university is pretty safe and ensures a good future for every kid. The problem is getting into the university. As the administration and college office is unstructured, it gets difficult for one to provide the amount of unnecessary documents that are asked for. Else the university is good and if you need to take your loads of studies out as fun then off-campus Albuquerque isn’t less than a joy ride.
