The University of San Francisco is located in the city of San Francisco which is the cultural, commercial, and financial center of Northern California. The main campus is nicknamed "The Hilltop", and part of the main campus is located on Lone Mountain, one of San Francisco's major geographical features. The consolidated city-county is also the fifth most densely populated U.S. county.
The main campus of University of San Francisco is located on a 55-acre (22 ha) setting between the Golden Gate Bridge and Golden Gate Park with more than 20 buildings, including the St. Ignatius Church which is one of the oldest buildings on campus, if not the oldest and its infrastructure is still one of the prettiest around; the Lone Mountain campus which infrastructure is classic, old style and beautiful, it kind of has a castle-like essence. The campus is filled with green areas to enjoy a warm day like the Community Garden, the Gleeson Plaza and Lo Schiavo Plaza.
The USF agrees that living on campus is part of college’s adventures where students create lifelong relationships and where different personalities and unique backgrounds are united. The Office of Student Housing and Residential Educations help all the new students to find the perfect, comfortable and safe place in the center of San Francisco. There are seven Residence Halls that the USF offers on campus, the Fromm Residence Hall, which is a Hall just for first year students female only; the Gillson Hall, for first year students but for both gender; the Hayes-Healy Hall, also for first years students for both genders; the Lone Mountain Hall, situated on the crest of a hill offer students a great view of the surrounding areas and residents must be under 21 years old; the Loyola Village Hall, offers an apartment style living for students that are 21 years old or older; the Toler Hall, located in the center of campus for upper classmen. When it comes to off-campus housing the first option is the Pedro Arrupe Hall, located one mile from the USF for students older than 21 years old. Also, the Off Campus Housing Service is a department that serves support for off-campus housing and has a list of options for students to choose from.
In South San Francisco, the summers are long, comfortable, arid, and mostly clear and the winters are short, cold, wet, and partly cloudy. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 45°F to 71°F and is rarely below 39°F or above 82°F. However, even though it could warm, clear and sunny it can always get a little chilly. So, be prepared for everything, you could be drinking a margarita under the sun and the next 10 minutes you will need a jacket for the chilly wind.

Most of the students that apply to the USF look for some kind of financial assistance since the university is known for being a little expensive. The USF offers different types of aids to help students who are not able to pay for tuition and that meet the requirements. The different types of aids include grants, merit scholarship and need-based scholarship, loans and federal work study. Sadly, International students are not eligible for financial aid. However, for graduate international students looking to apply for a program in the College of Arts and Sciences, there is a scholarship that awards $1,000 to $15,000 were international students are eligible. Even though the USF does not offer financial aid for international students, they accept additional financial aid foundations that offer some kind of scholarship for them.
While earning your degree, USF gives you opportunities to take advantage of many on- and off-campus work opportunities. Working part-time will help you : Develop new skill sets while strengthening your resume, immerse yourself in the USF community; make new connections and Put money towards tuition or save for day-to-day expenses. You can also explore off-campus opportunities with government or non-profit organizations that have an active contract with USF. The Student Employment Office coordinates off-campus work-study employment with qualified employers around San Francisco. Some students are able to get their internship with good companies like Amazon, Oracle, Tesla Motors, ESPN and others and if they meet the requirements, they stay working with the company after graduation.
