The University of Sydney has several campuses. The main campus Camperdown/Darlington, colloquially known as one of Australia's sandstone universities is like a small town located in the heart of Sydney, the capital city of New South Wales. The university is surrounding by beautiful green parks, shops and cafes, sports halls, museums, galleries, the spectacular Sydney harbour and two major complexes that are utilized by students for recreation and other services. Summers can tend to get a tad humid but the afternoon sea breezes that are quite common can be pleasant and refreshing. Rain is evenly spaced all year around with June being the wettest month and September the driest.
Class sizes in the University of Sydney are appropriately organized with a student staff ratio of 20:1. This allows for greater interaction among students and faculty. The professors and tutors are very welcoming and friendly. They are is brilliant, the best in their respective fields and have a knack of making the course more interesting which really motivates the students. Most of them have been featured in journals, written books and regularly speak at conferences.
USYD has a strong and extremely generous financial aid program. There are prizes, loans for students with financial constraints, and over 700 scholarship schemes for undergraduate, graduates, research scholars and some specifically for overseas students. The university gives over $6.5 million in scholarships.
Students can apply more than once for assistance during the course of their degree. However, non-degree students are not eligible. There are also student loans available for International students that are interest free. These can be upto $2000 for study expenses and essential living expenses. The repayment terms however are limited to payment within graduation term.
