The University of Twente Netherlands is a public research university. It is situated in Enschede, Netherlands. The university was set up in 1961 as Technische Hogeschool Twente. The establishment was renamed to Universiteit Twente (University of Twente) in 1986. University of Twente (UT) is ranked 172 in QS World University Rankings by TopUniversities. It has a general score of 4.2 stars. In Europe, it is evaluated as one of the 25 best colleges. In a national setting University College Twente was granted the 'Top rated program' seal. Five Master's projects have been allowed the seal "Top rated program".
The university has numerous research institutes such as Biomedical, Geo-information, Nanotechnology, and Engineering. The University was then moved to Enschede, the principal city of Twente, which had a rich industrial history. It is considered a city of education as it has many institutes and universities.
