The York university was established in 1963 in the rural, agricultural village of Heslington, York City, England with just 3 buildings and 230 students. Today it is internationally recognized as an academic powerhouse and in national rankings is on par with more older established universities. The University has 2 campuses, the West and East. The school is located in the East campus in the fringes of the city of York, in north Yorkshire, England to the south east of the city center. From the city center and the railway station there are buses every 5 minutes to the campus which takes around 20 minutes. The city is on the main East coast railway line from London to Edinburgh. By car, Leeds is 20 minutes, Sheffield and Newcastle 1 hour, Manchester 90 minutes, London 2 hours and Edinburgh 2.5 hours.
The university west campus has the York science Park,the National science Learning Center, Campus Lake, greenery and plenty of wild life. The east campus has 3 colleges, including the Management school, and 3 departments, Conference spaces,the Sports village and the Incubator the business start-up.
The campus has plenty of eating places, two supermarkets with branches in different locations and a shop. The university has given priority attention to fitness and wellbeing of the students in providing plenty facilities and resources for sports and fitness. The Sports village has 25 meter swimming pool, flood lit 3G full size foot ball pitches 120 station fitness suites with integrated TV, 3 air conditioned studios for classes, sauna and steam room, 1 km cycle circuit and an Olympic sized Velodrome. Not to be out done the the York Sports Center also offers 4 sports units with team and individual sports such as badminton, basket ball and volleyball, indoor and out door tennis courts, squash courts, flood lit hockey and foot ball pitches, County standard 400 M athletic track and flood lit net ball courts. Additionally there are 39 acres of green playing fields and out door cricket nets.
The York Active trail provides facilities for running, walking and cycling. There also a 5 km outdoor fitness trail. The Main library of the university, S.B.Morrel library is a comprehensive repository of learning. The Management school librarian is there to provide subject specific assistance o the students of the school. There is the British Lending Library close by and also the British Spa which contains all the texts required. There is the IT service which provides IT facility for the entire campus. PC rooms are located conveniently throughout the university.
The university provides accommodation to all the undergraduate and postgraduate students within the campus. There are facilities for single room, double room or larger group accommodation. The rent includes all utility bills thus making it hassle free. The units are well appointed.
However,if students opt for off campus housing there are plenty of options around the city; namely badger Hill, Clifton (Haxby Road), Clifton (waterlane), Fishergate, Solford, Heslington, Heslington Road, The groves, Tang Hall and Melrosegate, Tang hall (North) and Heworth), South bank, Osbaldwick, Lawrence Street and Hull Road. The university advises the students to refer the City of York Council’s accreditation scheme YorProperty when selecting a property.
The summers are short and comfortable and partly cloudy, while the winters are long, very cold and mostly cloudy. The temperatures varies between 35°F and 68°F and rarely goes below 26°F or above 77°F. The best period for warm weather activities is between late June and late August.

There are Alumni groups; UK regional and Global in America, Asia, Australia/New Zealand and Europe. There are additional alumni groups and social media groups who net work and organize events.
The research led , accredited teaching curriculum would lead you along the pathway depending on your interests and abilities, develop your CV, provide opportunities for internship and individual placement so that you become well prepared for employment. The York Management school in the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of York was created in 2006. This relatively young academic institution has gained widespread recognition as an international teaching and research facility within a short span of time. It is ranked in the Top for student experience in the Russel group universities. In 2015 it had 43 students from EU countries and 282 international students. The teachers are well experienced in teaching international students and have developed techniques and approaches to manage issues overseas students face when pursuing educational programs in UK. There are undergraduate, postgraduate and Doctoral degree programs on offer. The undergraduate students are offered 3 degrees in Business management, Accountancy and Finance. There are 10 postgraduate courses offered by the school in addition to 3 on line Masters courses. The MSc courses are of 1 years duration comprising modules covering all the important aspects required to be a modern business leader complemented with exposure to guest speakers drawn from the world of business. The teaching is research led and focuses on what the employer requires . Lectures, small group seminars, activity based workshops, group projects and individual projects are the tools of teaching used at the school. Study abroad programs are additional tools employed to widen the horizons and the confidence levels of students.
The Management School provides numerous scholarships, namely Master Scholarship and the TSYS Masters scholarships. The overseas students are advised to contact local British Council for scholarships and financial assistance. There is the UK Government Postgraduate Loan scheme available to all students.
The entire course is a process of preparing the students to be employable. There is a dedicated in-house Career Advice Service complemented by teaching what the employer requires based on an accredited curriculum. Daily Drop-in session for one-to-one appointments, assessment centers, coaching on application and interviews, Placement lectures, Regular employer and student get-together events and aids such as Industry guides, company and career videos, cover letter templates, CV guides, and Student Placement handbooks are made available by the Career Advice Service to help the student secure good Placements. The placements of students under leading business enterprises make the students more job-worthy. The school is very strong in creating links with international business organizations. It has been reported that a student enjoying a placement of 12 months duration would draw a salary between 14,000 to 18.000 £.

The university west campus has the York science Park,the National science Learning Center, Campus Lake, greenery and plenty of wild life. The east campus has 3 colleges, including the Management school, and 3 departments, Conference spaces,the Sports village and the Incubator the business start-up.
The campus has plenty of eating places, two supermarkets with branches in different locations and a shop. The university has given priority attention to fitness and wellbeing of the students in providing plenty facilities and resources for sports and fitness. The Sports village has 25 meter swimming pool, flood lit 3G full size foot ball pitches 120 station fitness suites with integrated TV, 3 air conditioned studios for classes, sauna and steam room, 1 km cycle circuit and an Olympic sized Velodrome. Not to be out done the the York Sports Center also offers 4 sports units with team and individual sports such as badminton, basket ball and volleyball, indoor and out door tennis courts, squash courts, flood lit hockey and foot ball pitches, County standard 400 M athletic track and flood lit net ball courts. Additionally there are 39 acres of green playing fields and out door cricket nets.
The York Active trail provides facilities for running, walking and cycling. There also a 5 km outdoor fitness trail. The Main library of the university, S.B.Morrel library is a comprehensive repository of learning. The Management school librarian is there to provide subject specific assistance o the students of the school. There is the British Lending Library close by and also the British Spa which contains all the texts required. There is the IT service which provides IT facility for the entire campus. PC rooms are located conveniently throughout the university.
The university provides accommodation to all the undergraduate and postgraduate students within the campus. There are facilities for single room, double room or larger group accommodation. The rent includes all utility bills thus making it hassle free. The units are well appointed.
However,if students opt for off campus housing there are plenty of options around the city; namely badger Hill, Clifton (Haxby Road), Clifton (waterlane), Fishergate, Solford, Heslington, Heslington Road, The groves, Tang Hall and Melrosegate, Tang hall (North) and Heworth), South bank, Osbaldwick, Lawrence Street and Hull Road. The university advises the students to refer the City of York Council’s accreditation scheme YorProperty when selecting a property.
The summers are short and comfortable and partly cloudy, while the winters are long, very cold and mostly cloudy. The temperatures varies between 35°F and 68°F and rarely goes below 26°F or above 77°F. The best period for warm weather activities is between late June and late August.

The University has 2 campuses, the West and East. The school is located in the East campus in the fringes of the city of York, in north Yorkshire, England to the south east of the city center. From the city center and the railway station there are buses every 5 minutes to the campus which takes around 20 minutes. The city is on the main East coast railway line from London to Edinburgh. By car, Leeds is 20 minutes, Sheffield and Newcastle 1 hour, Manchester 90 minutes, London 2 hours and Edinburgh 2.5 hours.
