Montgomery is a city in West Virginia, along the Kanawha River. From 1876 to 1890, the town was called Coal Valley Post Office. The name then changed to Montgomery's Landing and then Coal Valley. The city is center for 26 different coal operations and the largest town in Fayette County at the time. With a total population of 1638 the city is more like a small town where every single person knows about everyone. The city gives you a modern feel of Shyamalan's The Village and you will find a creepy kind of peace that hovers over this city. Without much to see around the city there is nothing but a pizza hub and WVU Tech which covers half the city technically.
With over 200 acre of land in rural setting the university has much more like a gothic outdated structure which gives you a dark vibe by standing right across a coal mine and zig-zag road. The buildings in there are not taken care of and if you are WVU, you don't have an off-campus option because the city of Montgomery is more like the campus itself. Administration that takes care of dorm is laid-back and never has happened that they heard any student's problem.
The university offers in-campus housing which will cost you up to 2,000 to 3,000 US$ which depends on your preference whether you opt for single or triple room occupancy. The prices exclude meal and meal plan may cost you 1700 to 2000 US$ per week depending on the meal plan that you choose. Meal plan seem pretty expensive compared to the food that is provided.

Despite of having the university in a rural setting with nothing much to do, university was able to bag quite a few talented professors whose teachings have helped a lot of students. Students at WVU are friendly and teach precisely what the syllabus wants them to teach. There are complaints against few teachers who are said to have a lack of teaching experience but that is a minimal problem because you have other professors who can take over that subject from teacher just so that you get an option.

Yes, we know that the fee is affordable, staff is good, administration lacks experience like any other university and education quality is better than expected but would you actually go somewhere where you have nothing to do but study? Fun for students there is sports or watching coal mines, that's it. Nothing can be done regarding the social life due to this isolated location. The food is bad and you don't have any other option to eat outside. But, if you consider the fact that the university is affordable and provides good education along with a good career then this seems worth it. If you are looking for some serious education and not just a degree along with some enjoyment then this is the perfect kind of university for you. But if you want to take a U.S trip and have fun while you study then check other universities in your wish-list.
