    Location at West Virginia University, Morgantown

    The University is situated in Morgantown which is a city in Monongalia County, West Virginia. Students are linked to each of the colleges in campus via the PRT (Personal Transit System) which is a shuttle that connects the campuses that are spread about throughout the Morgantown. This system is free for all the students and staff. Buses and shuttles are readily available throughout the town and campus, making transportation hassle free.


    Infrastructure at West Virginia University, Morgantown

    The Campus infrastructure here is one of the most beautiful ones in the country. Facilities such as the Mountainlair and the Student Rec Center are examples of state of the art infrastructure in the university. The Mountainlair has a bowling alley, food court, radio station, video arcade, pool hall, as well as a movie theater.
    This University enjoys a sprawling campus which gets further subdivided into three different sub campuses. Located on the picturesque Monongahela River which flows along the border of Morgantown, is the main campus. It is known as the Downtown Campus.This campus consists of 8 academic buildings.
    Owing to the growing student population, the university decided to expand its campus as a result of which came the Evansdale Campus. This campus lies approximately 1.5 miles to the northwest of Monongahela River while the third campus, Mountaineer Field which is located over a ridge from the Evansdale Campus contains a Health Sciences Center, Chestnut Ridge Hospital, Ruby Memorial Hospital, a Biomedical Research Facility, an Eye Institute, a Children’s Hospital, a Healthcare Physicians Office Center, a Cancer Center etc. All these health sciences institutes are well equipped with all the latest technologies and carry on extensive research in their respective domains.
    The Rec Center is also one of the reasons why the university is #9 in terms of sports facilities on the Princeton Review. It has a rock climbing wall. weight rooms, racquetball , squash, badminton courts, ping pong, and swimming.
    The library also ranks #18 on the Princeton Review and the campus is littered with great places to sit down, study and finish your work.
    Tthe university consists of as many as eight libraries. These include WVU Press, Health Sciences Library (Morgantown), Law library, Mary. F. Shipper library, Evansdale Library, WVU Press, Downtown Campus Library, WVU Institute of Technology and Regional History Center; which is the biggest campus library consisting of vast collection of electronic journals, map collection, important government documents, rare books, theses, dissertations, vast reading material on patent and trademarks and so on.


    Residing Options at West Virginia University, Morgantown

    Being built around a town also means that there are endless options to choose when it comes to recreation and housing.
    There are apartments all over the campus that caters to the married, single, disabled and international students. There are also co-ed dormitories as well as single dormitories for guys and girls.
    The Office of Campus and Community Life provides active assistance and support to students desirous of staying at off campus accommodations. This department uploads on its portal a list of apartments which are available for leasing out on contract to students. These apartments range from as small as one bedroom apartments to as many as six bedroom apartments which students can pick from. Some of the popular areas in which the listed apartments are located are 733 Union Avenue, 1000 District Dr, 469 Crawford Avenue, 386 Forest Avenue, 113 Cornell, 878 Quadrilla Street, 99 Fifth Street, 883 Tremont Street, 48 Campus Drive Suite 101, McLane Apartments etc. Though most of these apartments are apartments, some of these accommodations are houses which are open for leasing out.


    Weather at West Virginia University, Morgantown

    One can experience the full four seasons in West Virginia. Summer and fall are usually the best seasons to experience there. The spring and winter seasons however can be a bit testing as it tends to be cold and filled with snow or rain.
    The average temperature in Morgantown is around 46.5F and it can go up to 91.4 F. During the colder seasons it can go down to -5.8 F. During winter, the snow fall usually starts in the middle of November and has gone all the way up to March at times.


    Faculty and pedagogy at West Virginia University, Morgantown

    Many students have said that the academics in this university revolve around its teachers. According to the Princeton Review there are around 1,478 faculty member. The ratio between teacher and student is around 21:1. Classes usually have around 2-9 members making the professors in college very accessible. The University boasts of having the right mixture of academics and extracurricular activities in order to provide a holistic college life.

    The stipend earned by the Research Assistants comes through grants and third party sources while Service Assistants receive a complete waiver of their Tuition fees as well as student health insurance. Graduate Residence Hall Assistants get some stipend apart from waiver of tuition fees for some of them along with accommodation facility. These Assistants are expected to put in almost 20 hours of work every week.

    Owing to the growing student population, the university decided to expand its campus as a result of which came the Evansdale Campus. This campus lies approximately 1.5 miles to the northwest of Monongahela River while the third campus, Mountaineer Field which is located over a ridge from the Evansdale Campus contains a Health Sciences Center, Chestnut Ridge Hospital, Ruby Memorial Hospital, a Biomedical Research Facility, an Eye Institute, a Children’s Hospital, a Healthcare Physicians Office Center, a Cancer Center etc. All these health sciences institutes are well equipped with all the latest technologies and carry on extensive research in their respective domains.
    The Rec Center is also one of the reasons why the university is #9 in terms of sports facilities on the Princeton Review. It has a rock climbing wall. weight rooms, racquetball , squash, badminton courts, ping pong, and swimming.
